CTRD NIH Pre-doctoral Trainees are outstanding IU graduate students whose integrative research interests focus on behavior and physiology in humans and other animals and will address key questions in three related themes: (1) Developmental contributions to reproductive behavior; (2) Origins and expression of differences among the sexes; and (3) Interactions between sex, health, and disease. Awards are for 12 months of stipend support and include a small allowance for research expenses and travel. CTRD Trainees MUST be citizens, non-citizen nationals or permanent residents of the US.
All materials (including letters from references) must be submitted by February 12, 2024 by 4 pm Eastern.
CISAB Scholars must be in good academic standing in their home departments. We strongly encourage students to apply for both the CISAB Pre-doctoral Fellowship and the CTRD NIH Pre-doctoral Fellowship if your research is applicable.
To apply for a CTRD predoctoral fellowship you will need:
1. A summary of your dissertation research (2-3 pages).
-
Discuss how being a CTRD trainee will further your research, training and/or career goals, and what special opportunities to conduct integrative research may become possible if you receive funding. You can upload a PDF. Please name your file so it is easily identifiable as yours.
-
Be sure to provide a brief description of how your research plan specifically applies to one of the explicit training foci of the CTRD (1) Developmental contributions to reproductive behavior; (2) Origins and expression of differences among the sexes; and (3) Interactions between sex, health, and disease.
2. Supervision and Guidance.
-
Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your PI. NIH requires CTRD trainees be advised or co-advised by a member of the training faculty. One of the recommendation letters must come from the CTRD training faculty member who is advising or co-advising you. Please ask your two recommenders to send their letters to abeh@indiana.edu.
-
Please ensure that your PI includes in their recommendation letter a statement that the resources for your dissertation research are available and a brief description of how the costs of your research will be supported (e.g., PI research grants, startup funds, research grants to the trainee, IU research funds, etc.).
